Liverpool have reportedly beaten several clubs to the signing of Harvey Elliot from Fulham.Scottish side Rangers were thought to be interested in the midfielder alongside West Ham and Everton.
The teenager is regarded as one of the top young talents for the Cottagers and there have been speculations about his future. He also holds the record for the youngest player to play in the Premier League as he came on as a substitute against Wolves in May aged 16 years and 30 days last season.
Elliot cannot sign a professional contract until he turns 17 years and Liverpool are thought to have convinced the player to sign a three-year contract as a professional.
Fulham were hoping to convince the player to sign a new contract with the club and fast-tracked his ascent to the first team. But it seems like the player has made up his mind to leave the club.
It is thought that the Reds had been tracking the youngster since when Steven Gerard was the coach of the u18 team. Which is not surprising as Gerard also tried to convince Elliot to make the switch to Scotland.
Liverpool would be happy to sign the youngster who is considered as one of the hottest talents in England. Fulham are expected to be compensated by Liverpool but this amount is unknown and could be decided by a tribunal.
Liverpool are yet to make a transfer this season but have made several youth signings this season.
However, the club has been linked with moves for Lille forward Nicolas Pepe and Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne. Pepe is thought to be valued at £70 million by his club while Insigne is valued at £50 million.
